About Us
We are a friendly group of backgammon players in and around the Pittsburgh area
The Team

Peter is co-director of Steel City Backgammon. He is an avid backgammon player and the primary developer of the SC BG website.

Melissa is co-director of Steel City Backgammon. She is a higher ed administrator, professor, author, and bass player (not necessarily in that order), and leads the SC BG social media presence.

Max is a professional software developer and a contributor to the SC BG website. He also enjoys the game and plays whenever his dad makes him.
Mission
Steel City Backgammon is committed to growing and promoting the exciting game of backgammon in the city of Pittsburgh. We will provide regular opportunities for play.
We are open to players of all skill levels. Advanced players will find a challenge, and players just starting out will find supportive players ready to help them learn the game.
We will be an inclusive group where everyone, of any age, gender, or race feels welcome, will have fun and will want to tell their friends about us.
Code of Conduct
So our events are fun for everyone, players who attend any SC BG event are expected to:
- welcome and respect all players and guests
- refrain from negative or derogatory language or behavior
- respect all aspects of individual's identities, including the use of preferred pronouns
- observe the SC BG tournament rules and the USBGF rules of play in general
- be mindful of our host venue's generosity and flexibility (translation: come prepared to make at least one purchase and generously tip our servers)
In short: Be nice. Help out new players and don't make them feel stupid. We were all that player once.
