Mini Tournament! Social BG! Fun Times! Not Football!
Hey players, it’s tournament time again! Registration at 1:15, play starts at 1:30.
Let’s try something new … Swiss format!

- Everyone plays at least 2 matches
- Many players play 3 or 4 matches
- It’s more fun! Play more opponents instead of “one and done”
- We play in rounds, instead of a bracket, and keep track of your record
- You play players with the same record as long as possible
- All pairings are random draw (within the score group)
- We’ll have the complete rules up on the website soon

The nitty gritty:
- $20 entry, 100% return
- Pays 1st and 2nd places
- 5-point matches (because of time constraints)
- Must have at least 8 players, capped at 16 (because of time constraints)
- Play will be capped at 4 rounds (because of time constraints)
- Please be on time, bring cash, and be prepared to play 4 rounds (approx 1 hour for each round, may be less)
- Players with 2 losses cannot win money, but are free to keep playing if you want
The even more gritty:
- After 4 rounds, if there is only 1 player at 4-0 that player is the winner. Otherwise tie-break rules kick in to determine 1st and 2nd
- Ties are broken by examining the records of players’ opponents. (hey, that’s why computers were invented)
- We’ll take care of the math, you just show up and play!
Sunday Update: We had a great time yesterday playing our first-ever Swiss-format tournament. 10 players competed, and here are the final results. Steve Hast won with a stellar 4-0 record, Peter and Steve Grund had 3-1 records, with Peter edging it out in the tie-break.
